Obstructed Distortion
The work I make leans heavily into themes of self-reflection and self-expression that tell stories. Through these stories, I aim to connect with others who feel like they need to be heard, thus creating the cycle of why I make art. My artwork tends to be as ambitious and detailed as the human experience. I focus a lot on photography favoring analog and alternative styles of picture taking, however, I experiment with a lot in other mediums to be able to work at larger scales both physically and conceptually. The most important part for me while making art is learning about the materials I’m using and the people I’m engaging with in a way that stimulates a form of connection between the artwork and the viewer. I’ve found that creating complex and detailed pieces leaves a longer impact on those who choose to engage so that people can process the piece and wonder how it was made. I aim to form and engage in these relationships with people through my artwork and artistic practice to express human complexities.
