The Culture in Black

My name is Brandon Biggs, and The Culture in Black is my way of honoring the figures who shaped me and shaped the world. This project is a comic book style guide that blends illustration, storytelling, and design to celebrate Black icons across history, entertainment, sports, activism, and culture. I use bold visuals, dynamic layouts, and a mix of vintage and modern comic aesthetics to present each figure as larger than life while still grounded in their real impact. My goal is to create something that feels exciting, accessible, and powerful, while showing how Black influence continues to shape every corner of culture. Through this work, I want to reflect both my own identity and the legacy I am proud to be a part of.
