Dress Code
Featuring multiple portraits of women, friends and strangers - some interviewed in New York-, Dress Code highlights the relationship of women to their clothing. Often, this power of clothes as tools of self-expression is eclipsed by society's judgement and shaming of women. With this artwork, Amber wants to bring light to the challenges women face simply for wearing their preferred clothing, catcalling, sexualization and slut shaming.

Amber's practice is shaped by fashion design, from the construction of the dress, identical to a fashion gown, to the base idea of self-expression through clothing and style, as seen in the portraits. She invites the viewer to empathize with experience of being a woman in a judgmental society. And to reflect on the effect clothing have on ourselves and our judgment of others.
