Sana Sana (Heal Heal)
Sana Sana is a vitamin supplement brand inspired by ingredients natural to Mexico. The brand
consists of three collections featuring a main ingredient; cacao, guava, and prickly pear fruit. These
ingredients are highlighted in Náhuatl, an indigenous language spoken by the Aztec Empire or
Mexica. Náhuatl, pronounced NAH-wah-tuhl, is part of the Uto-Aztecan family, one of the largest of
the Native American language families.

Like many Mexican and Chicano people, our direct connection to our indigenous ancestors has been obscured thru colonization during the Spanish Conquest. Modern Mexican culture is heavily infused with pre-Columbian traditions. Sana Sana pays homage to those native ingredients that were source of life to the indigenous people of Mexico. This project has allowed me to learn about my ancestor’s connection to the Earth, their plant medicine, and their rituals.
