Growing up, I faced a lot of bias about my learning disabilities, affecting my self-esteem and confidence. When people voiced certain words or phrases to or about me, they may not have realized the impact it had on me. Words that Wound will highlight phrases from peers, teachers, therapists, and others that can cut to the core of a person’s ego and the long-lasting impact it can have. Since this is a personal project, I know a good deal about this struggling with dyslexia and ADHD. I want to make people think about the impact that what they say, whether they meant it or not, can have on someone’s life.
