I’m Sock, and I make character concept art.

As a kid I wanted to do everything my older brother was doing. That meant watching cartoons and anime, playing video games, and reading comics to name a few things. At the same time I was developing an interest in these things for my own reasons; the characters and the artwork. I remember being infatuated with Yugi from Yu-Gi-Oh, Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball, Kirby, Sonic, Link, the list of these iconic characters from my childhood goes on. I would obsess over such characters.

When I got older and learned that I could draw, it dawned on me that I could create my own characters. Obsessing over somebody else’s creations quickly turned into creating my own characters and delving into their stories and the worlds these characters existed in. My teen years were spent cooped up in my room emptying my brain into a sketchbook per month, filling the pages with characters, designs, redesigns and all. I would share these with my friends, and we would draw our characters interacting together. Then I realized that is exactly what I loved doing. I loved making characters that other people could also enjoy and feel they wanted to learn more about for whatever their reason may be. I was excited about the creations from my mutuals in the same way they were about mine. So I never stopped creating and sharing.

Now, my work is all digital. There is a small selection of characters that I draw over and over again for practice while I conjure up new ones and continue to learn how to strengthen the depth of my characters’ designs.
