I love horror art, and pop-up books. In this work, I created a horror pop-up book where I show how Insomnia can affect a person who’s mind overthinks and will not stop functioning when you are supposed to relax, like a workaholic. Insomnia mixed with anxiety can be your biggest enemies. This story talks about how those obstacles can prevent Esmeralda from healing from her past and keep her from moving forward with her family, who are precious gems that she can never sell or replace. However, a deep cut from the past could do more harm than good towards her children.
The book was bound by hand from page by page, cutting book board, and book fabric. The appearance is meant to look handmade, worn down, like it is meant to be found in an old box or chest in a family home.
