Sisa Sisa

Medium: 2D Animation

In Sisa Sisa (Mirror Mirror) I explore the deep roots of beauty in Punjabi women that came before her, women who have long been a minority with little to no written history. It is an invitation to see how women would dress for a special event; the simple joy women experienced from wearing different colored glass bangles and adorning their long braids with parandis (wrapped up colorful threads braided into the hair). And then covering their heads with a traditional embroidered phulkari.

The animation seeks to connect with Punjabi girls in the present age to signify that even though styles have changed, makeup has changed, taste has changed, the simple accessories that Punjabi women used back in the day, are still being used by all ages of Punjabi women. The true Multiyar, was, has, and always will be present within every little Punjabi girl.
