The Seeds Were Already Planted
Medium: Performance, Paper Flowers, Acrylic
The Seeds Were Already Planted focuses on the negative sides of being a girl in a patriarchal society. I was so disgusted by how the world expected me to act. This artwork explores rejecting my own femininity because a patriarchal society doesn't have room for femininity and deems it as weakness. I ended up losing the parts of myself inside that made me happy. I realized how much harm I was doing to my own mental health, so I needed to create a wake-up call to myself and society. What is left when someone is stripped of their identity? Society wants anyone who doesn't fit the blueprint to change themselves, making you feel like you are the problem. Using my own body, I am reclaiming myself and making the invisible pain visible through performance.
