Objectification: A Female Retrospective
Medium: Editorial/Book Design/Digital Illustration
My project focuses on the objectification of women and how it continues to shape how we see and value ourselves. It explores how women were first idealized in classical art, stereotyped by race, and sexualized through film, TV, music, and advertising. I also look at how this cycle continues through diet culture, plastic surgery, and social media, where women feel pressure to look perfect at every age. A lot of women grow up thinking we have to look pretty to be noticed. We end up marketing ourselves without realizing it, which creates insecurity and pressure to meet impossible standards. My goal is to show how deep this issue runs and how it continues to affect women today.
