I started this project by thinking about how the brain works, my biggest inspiration being teaching my baby cousin to walk and talk! While researching about the brain, I stumbled upon neurodiversity, which made me think about the neurodivergent kids I looked after without any information/ help, and was just told, “Leave them alone, they are like that,” which broke my heart. That felt wrong to me, so I decided to teach myself, then others (especially if they have kids or work with kids), about neurodiversity, focusing on ADHD, Dyslexia, and Autism, so we can actually see every student succeed!
This project matters to me because every kid is a kid, no matter their disability. And I want the viewer to see that by learning about the definition and the types of neurodivergences on the site. What helped me understand neurodivergence was doing research about each diagnosis I focused on!
