Cape Town 2040 Olympic Games
Medium: Poster design, logo design, 3D - Design, Brand Identity
In 2010 the Winter Olympics where in Vancouver. It was my first time watching the Olympics and I was so amazed by all the athletes particularly the snowboarders, but what stood out the most to my nine year old eye was the design and branding of the Olympic Games. This was the first time a brands design really stood out to me. So when it came time to figure out my senior project, I decided I would go back to my childhood and try to recreate the magic I saw on TV but for a future Olympic Games. When choosing a place to base my Olympics around I wanted to pick a place that hadn’t held the games before, but deserved to, that’s when I landed on Cape Town South Africa. They had been a candidate to host the Olympics Games in previous years but was always out bid. They plan on submitting a bid to host the Olympics in 2036 and 2040, which is how I landed on the date for my Olympics. My Goal for this project is to create the identity for the Olympics by mixing the cultures and traditions of Cape Town South Africa.
