Sugar Coated

Medium: Digital, Package Design

Sugar Coated is a project that explores how harmful ingredients found in everyday grocery store items are hidden, minimized, and reshaped within the products branding. Cereal boxes are packaged and branded in a way that appears harmless and healthy despite their nutritional content. Through redesigned packaging, this project aims to challenge existing branding strategies. Mascot characters are altered to reflect the visible health consequences from the overconsumption of sugar, while famous product names are reworked to better communicate what has been long hidden. Research on nutrition labeling, daily sugar intake, and the overall food marketing practice helped shape the design choices for Sugar Coated. The goal is to encourage viewers to question how design influences their perception of food and everyday consumption habits.
