Unapologetically Latina
Medium: Print Design, Editorial Design, Packaging, and Wearables,
Growing up in the United States as a child of immigrants, I have always struggled with my self-identity. When I would visit Peru, I felt out of place. Living here, I also feel out of place. Ni de aquí ni de allá (neither from here nor from there).I found myself through Reggaeton. Reggaeton is more than a genre, it is an immigrant story; born from displacement, cultural mixing, and the need to be heard. This work explores Reggaeton as a mirror for identity, weaving together personal reflection, Peruvian roots, and the broader Latin immigrant experience. My goal for this project is to have others like myself recognize themselves in this story.
What do you connect with? How does one return to their roots?
