This capstone project raises awareness about African Americans who have been killed in encounters with law enforcement through a mixed-media approach. Combining a large-scale poster, a series of printed cards, and a companion website, the work presents the issue in a visual and accessible way. The poster features the faces and names of 199 individuals, emphasizing both the scale of loss and the individuality of each person, while the website provides additional context and allows the project to extend beyond the gallery space.
The cards create a more personal connection by highlighting specific individuals, and the website deepens this engagement by offering space for further exploration. By bringing together collective and individual representation, the project encourages viewers to move beyond statistics and recognize the lives behind them, honoring those individuals and reinforcing the importance of remembering and saying their names.
