Photoburst is a narrative zine following two girls as they navigate relationships, small-southern town bigotry, and the mystery of a cryptid haunting them. As they hunt for the creature, they unpack their past falling out and feelings for one another.
I wanted to explore the feeling of isolation and the social ostracization that comes from growing up queer in the south. When you differ from the norm in such a small and conservative area, it can feel as though you constantly have a target on you, even if you truly belong, as the deer in the story does.
